Ecumen Hospice-Litchfield Celebrates 28-Years of Community Connection

Ecumen Hospice-Litchfield held its annual hospice dinner and silent auction April 7, 2017, and raised about $11,000 – money used to help pay for care and supplies that are not reimbursable by insurance. The fundraiser is a Litchfield community tradition going back 28 years.

“The community support in Litchfield is amazing,” said Sandra Dougherty, Home Care and Hospice Director at Ecumen of Litchfield.

A Tribute to Pastor John Peterson, Beloved Hospice Chaplain in Litchfield

October 20, 2016

For the past 13 years, Pastor John Peterson was our hospice chaplain at Ecumen Home Care & Hospice-Litchfield. We deeply miss him since he retired a couple of months ago. 

We had a party in his honor on October 11. About 75 people attended to celebrate his dedication to the hospice program. Friends, family members he had touched and past workers were in the group, and we reminisced about his time with us.

Ecumen Hospice is looking for volunteers in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul metro area to provide comfort, support and friendship to hospice patients in their final months, weeks or days.

“Hospice volunteering is an incredibly personal experience,” says Cori Ballew, Ecumen Hospice Volunteer Specialist. “The whole idea of hospice is to help people live as fully as possible for whatever time is left. Most volunteers find it a deeply rewarding, positive and uplifting experience.”

Ecumen Opens Hospice Serving the Twin Cities Metro

Ecumen, one of the oldest hospice providers in Minnesota, has opened a new hospice service for the Twin Cities metro area.

Ecumen Hospice-Twin Cities will cover an eight-county area — Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington, Chisago, Anoka, Dakota, Scott and Isanti.  Expansion of hospice services in the Twin Cities builds on Ecumen’s more than 25 years of experience that started at Ecumen of Litchfield in 1989.
